Love - Pass it on
Do you believe God loves you? Really believe it? Ok, maybe on days when things are going really well, and you seem to be on top of things - maybe on those days it's easy to believe that God loves you. But what about when nothing's going like you hoped or planned, when you feel like you can't keep up with all the issues that seem to continuously try to overtake you. Do you still believe it?
Our focus passage this week is from Matthew 28:19-20
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (NIV)
We make disciples by sharing God's love with others. But we can't share what we don't know we have. When life doesn't go our way, we want someone to blame. Often, the one we blame is God. We think, "if God loved me, this wouldn't have happened". Sometimes the calamity, confusion, or strife in our lives is the consequence of our own actions. Sometimes it's the consequence of living in this broken, fallen world. Whatever the cause, we want to feel better right now. What if we could trust that
"in all things God works together with those who love him to bring about what is good—with those who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28, NIV)
In all things. In the wonderful parts of life, and also in the difficult, painful, challenging parts of life, God works together with each of us to bring about what is good. This is good news. This is love we can pass on.
It only takes a spark
To get a fire going
And soon all those around
Can warm up in its glowing
That's how it is with God's love
Once you've experienced it
You spread His love to ev'ryone
You want to pass it on
