Resurrection Day
I can imagine the disbelief and hopelessness that Jesus' followers felt as they watched while Jesus was crucified. Despite all the warnings Jesus gave them, they never imagined THIS. They must have been screaming inside, "Come on, Jesus, do something...anything!" It's no wonder that they secluded themselves - hurt, and even ashamed. What had been the point of the last 3 years? They must have felt so deceived. They could not understand or imagine the new thing that God was doing. They had no idea that joy was just around the corner, on the other side of the darkness.
At our most painful moments hope feels impossible.
But every sunrise is preceded by midnight, every breakthrough by moments of doubt, and success is rarely achieved without some failure along the way. Be encouraged, and know that God's plan is better than your wildest imaginings. Hold on to hope and trust the wisdom of God.
Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed!
4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. 5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’ ” (Mark 16:4-7)
