See What God Sees

What did God see in David? David's own father didn't even consider him worthy to be summoned when the prophet Samuel came and requested to see all of Jesse's sons - likely because David was younger and smaller than his brothers. With all we know of David's life, God surly didn't see perfection. Maybe it was a willing heart - willing to try, to fail, to repent.

In Mark 4, Jesus describes the kingdom, or reign, of God as a seed that grows without human assistance, and like a mustard seed which creates a hearty and pervasive bush. The kingdom of God is tangible in and through each of us. In each of us exists a potential that's so much more than meets the eye. No matter how small or insignificant we feel, God desires to know us, to be known by us, and to be made known through us. Together, we can create a hearty, pervasive love that provides refuge and nourishment for a troubled world.

God, give us the grace, compassion, and love to see great potential in ourselves and others. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

26 He also said, "The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground, 27 and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how.

31 It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; 32 yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade."

(Mark 4:26-27,31-32)
