Grief Interrupted
2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in, they did not find the body. 4 While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. 5 The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. 6 Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again." (Luke 24:2-7)
When yesterday looks better than today
And tomorrow is inconceivable
When challenges seem greater than resources
And sorrow threatens to smother all joy
We must remember
When temptations abound
And walls we've build for protection
Block the view of our salvation
We must remember
When forgiveness is forgotten
And freedom is forsaken
When wickedness is not rejected
And injustice is the order of the day
We must remember
Disappointment is not definitive
The past is not predictive
Grief is continuously interrupted by Grace
We must remember
No matter what it looks like
Darkness cannot overcome the Light
No matter what it feels like
Death has already been defeated
We must remember
We serve a God who still rolls the stones away
21 For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being; 22 for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:21-22)
